Which group should cause us more outrage, those committing willful felonies or those forced to sleep on sidewalks? Here is just a small sample of some of my more shameless suspects…and what is referred to as “the Zone” here in Phoenix.
I've been following the case of local Phoenix business owners and residents attempting to force the City of Phoenix into doing something about “the Zone”. Here is the latest article by Katya Schwenk of the New Times:
While I'm sure the plaintiffs have some valid complaints, I like to consider these outrages in the context of the much bigger outrage that I have been outlining for the last couple of months now. My usual rant:
Felony Mortgage Fraud is an epidemic.
Lenders obviously have zero controls.
Enforcement by all appearances is a big zero.
This is hurting ALL of us (as it did within recent memory???), the only question is how bad it will become.
These truths now seem self-evident.
Juxtapose that against the outrage regarding the homelessness problem:
At least some of these people are no-doubt homeless due to the felonies and lack of enforcement described above (and yes, I understand that home access/affordability is only one piece of the puzzle, but it is a piece!?)
We are outraged and demand enforcement against people forced to sleep in tents, rather than those:
Committing obvious felonies;
Generally living in comparable mansions; and
Otherwise trying to monopolize the real-estate market with the collusion of Wall Street and "the industry".
Question: Would we advocate for the homeless to be able to freely lie on mortgage or rental applications and move in next door to us? No??? Then why do we say nothing about mortgage fraud!?
